One day all that we know will pass away, all that we think of as permanent will shift and be gone. No matter how great the accomplishments of our civilization, no matter how hard we strive, we are nothing but specks in the cosmic dust, infinitesimal pieces in an endless puzzle that no one will ever solve. And yet, we matter. We are here for a reason...

Nothing else will remain when we are gone, but the love we share lasts forever.

I am never gone. Or rather I can never be gone because I have never left. I am here where I have always been, at home in my own skin, but my skin is not this body, it is the moss on the trees, the mud on the path, the bark on the trunk.

We will meet again, old friend, as we have met many times before. There will be a glimmer of recognition as we tread the same path, wearing new robes. We are ancient, and new born, all in the same breath. We are the cycle of life, repeating for eternity and never the same twice.

Yes, the love remains. You can see it in the pine cones whose seeds carry the promise of tomorrow and in the wildflowers whose soft electric blue blankets the sun patched ground, you can hear it in the silence broken only by a bird’s call, but most of all you can feel it in your bones and in your spirit as a unquenchable thirst, a desire that can only be filled by coming home.
