テート・ギャラリーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (テート・ギャラリーInstagram)「Yinka Shonibare CBE was born, studied and lives in London, but grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. His dual identity as British-Nigerian has been the starting point for much of his work, including 'The British Library' 2014 — a site-specific installation highlighting the impact of immigration on British culture. The British Library is a celebration of the diversity of the British population, containing 6,328 books bound in ‘African wax print’, the artist's signature material. Printed in gold on the spines of 2,700 of the books are the names of first or second-generation immigrants to Britain. Whether celebrated or lesser known, they have all made significant contributions to British culture and history. There are also books with the names of those who have opposed immigration. Other books are unmarked, suggesting that the story of immigration in Britain is still being written. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We are delighted to say that Tate has acquired Yinka Shonibare's installation which is free and open to the public as part of Tate Modern’s collection displays. An important part of the installation is a website, which contains recent materials selected by the artist to present different viewpoints relating to immigration. Anyone is invited to submit their own story, and a selection of visitors’ responses will be available to view on the website (link in bio to visit.) Find the work on free display at Tate Modern (level 2 of Natalie Bell Building). 📚📚📚」4月8日 22時09分 - tate
