“Form must have a content, and that content must be linked with nature”, Aalto once said. Unlike his Bauhaus contemporaries, Aalto practiced a modernism that borrowed resources and forms from nature. Villa Mairea, that he designed for Artek Co-Founder Maire Gullichsen, became one of his masterpieces of human modernism.
