Aalto in Sweden: the Västmanlands-Dala Student Union Building in Uppsala is reminiscent of Alvar Aalto’s iconic Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. Both were designed around 1965 and show identical features, such as the characteristic windows and open stair cases. The projecting cubes store flexible partitions in the main hall; a functional solution for flexible use of space as seen in many Aalto buildings.
