Payless ShoeSource has become the latest retailer to abandon ship in the U.S.
The company filed for bankruptcy a second time Monday night as it looks to close its 2,500 U.S. stores and cease e-commerce operations. The filing said Payless has about $470 million in outstanding debt.
The company expects all of its stores to remain open until at least the end of March, with the majority remaining open until May. After then, you’ll have to visit one of the company’s franchised locations or Latin American stores for a pair of Payless shoes.
