The European Union could collapse the way the Soviet Union did in 1991, legendary investor George Soros warned.

The billionaire begged European leaders to “please wake up” and recognize “the magnitude of the threat” it faces from what he said were both internal and external enemies. Soros added that Europe is “sleepwalking into oblivion.” The investor’s warning comes during a period of instability in Europe as populism and anti-establishment sentiments rise — and European Parliament elections are rapidly approaching.
