A deep, brutal #cold set in across the United States’ #Midwest on Wednesday, sending temperatures plummeting to depths that stunned even Midwesterners, a group accustomed to shrugging off #winter. Minneapolis was -27 Fahrenheit, with a wind chill of -51, the @nws said. Chicago was -20, with a windchill of -45. And Milwaukee was -19, with a wind chill of -46. It’s the sort of cold that makes cars moan, breathing hurt, and any bit of exposed skin sting. Colleges were closed in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, and the @uspostalservice stopped deliveries in some places. At least 4 deaths have been connected to the dangerously cold weather system, according to @apnews. Officials throughout the region have declared states of emergency, warned of frostbite and hypothermia, and urged residents to stay inside. @joshualott took this photo of #LakeMichigan in #Chicago yesterday.
