"People used to stare at me when I was growing up because I was in a wheelchair, and I hated it," said Dylan Alcott, a paraplegic 28-year-old #GrandSlam champion in wheelchair #tennis. "Now they're staring at me because they know me. How amazing is that?" After first gaining recognition for winning a 2008 #Paralympic gold medal in wheelchair basketball at 17, @dylanalcott has come to dominate the quad division of #wheelchair tennis, winning 7 Grand Slam singles titles, including 5 at the @australianopen. He won his fifth in a row last Saturday at Rod Laver Arena, which seats 15,000. But his visibility extends far beyond the court. He’s the face of ANZ, a bank that is one of the Open’s major sponsors, appears in TV commercials and serves as an analyst for @channel9, the Australian network that broadcasts the tournament. Kris Dent, an executive with @itf__tennis, said Dylan’s appeal transcended sports. “He's become much more than just an athlete. It's a phenomenal story that he has.” @abrfoto shot this photo of Dylan at the Open. Visit the link in our profile to read more about Dylan. #?
