BOWIE AT THE BEEB COLLECTABLES - “Then I got the small white box, And I didn't know what to do...” -
This kind of specialist detail isn't for everybody, however, here’s another instalment in our occasional Bowie Collector series, this time focusing on the Bowie At The Beeb CD set, issued by EMI/BBC in September 2000.
Aside from the regular releases of the CD in their various permutations, the album was also promoted with the following promo only items in the UK. + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - + - +

And that's just the UK. There were territorial variations including various posters, CDs and press kits, including a beautiful US press kit with transparencies.
A bit of a headache for the collector hoping to complete their collection, as many of the above are almost impossible to locate today.
The one item that does show up regularly for sale at a reasonable price, is the promo 8-track sampler CD in facsimile tape box...well, one version of it does.
If you own this sampler, you'll no doubt agree that it is a pretty cool promo, albeit rather sparse once you look inside and take out the disc itself.
Well, that's because the original intention was to include a 10-page foldout booklet, with further details regarding the upcoming set, including notes and full tracklisting.
Due to some sensitive content, and with no time to replace it with another version, the booklet was withdrawn and destroyed at the last minute before distribution.
As is the way with these things, the record company retained "three or four" library copies, one of which is visible if you swipe.
It's unlikely any of these will turn up at auction, but there’s still plenty for the Bowie Collector to hunt out from the list above. -
