Olivia Colman does not like to be in the spotlight. “I hate the loss of anonymity,” she said. “No one teaches you how to deal with that.” It’s difficult for her to find any sort of anonymity in her native Britain, where she is fairly often described as a national treasure. She’s known both as a comedy stalwart and a forceful dramatic actor. There was general rejoicing when it was announced that she would take over the role of Queen Elizabeth II from Claire Foy in coming seasons of @thecrownnetflix. Even before the new season is released, however, her fame is reaching the United States. @thefavouritemovie, which premiered Nov. 23, bagged the Silver Lion Grand Jury prize at the #venicefilmfestival, won Olivia the best actress award and has already garnered serious #Oscar chatter.
