I BROKE MY WRIST from yoga 2 years ago trying to outdo all those incredible yogis on IG in their acrobatic handstands ?. My wrist was in a cast for a good month. I had hoped that with proper rest, recovery and gentle movements it would heal 100% and I’d be back in the game, but it never fully did ?. To this day, my wrist has never been the same. I can’t even practice a whole 30 minutes without it aching in pain, let alone performing a basic chaturanga or backend. Whilst I’ve altered my practice to exclude any long weight bearing movements and holds on my right wrist, I used to get so down ? knowing that I couldn’t improve on my handstand and forearm stands. But nowadays I reflect and constantly remind myself that it’s not about self improvement and competing, it’s about SELF ACCEPTANCE, the journey, and how happy I am in life. So, point of my story is that, no I can’t do a handstand pike and probably never will now—but that’s totally ok. Because today, yoga for me is not all about asanas, it’s so much more. My Yoga IS a LIFESTYLE—it’s a way of life and thinking, and I can tell you, it’s one fucking BEAUTIFUL way of life. Thank you to @activeyogi and @lozlaz_xo for being my yoga mentors xx
