The single best thing I’ve done to reduce my stress ??‍♀️ It’s no secret that I’m a busy bee. I thrive when my diary is full and I’m dashing around, I love it ? However there have definitely been moments where I feel completely and utterly overwhelmed and like I can’t cope; and my phone hasn’t helped this. The constant pinging of emails and notifications meant that every time I looked at the little screen I would get a hit of stress ? So 3 months ago I made the decision to turn off ALL push notifications. Yep, all of them. The only thing I left active was phone calls, because if someone really wants me they will ring me up ? This simple switch has literally changed my life. My stress during the day has significantly reduced. My phone doesn’t control me and my mood, I am in control. I choose when to look at my phone and when to get back to my emails and messages. An added bonus is that when I’m with friends I don’t have notifications coming up on my phone and distracting me; meaning I’m more present when with others. I have an app which tracks my phone use (“Moment”) and I’m on it 50% less than I used to be. Literally my phone use has been cut in half ? I genuinely have a much more healthy relationship with my phone and with my work.
