The Museum was once home to natural history objects, including this ‘Gigantic Irish Deer’ shown in the galleries in the mid-19th century. These collections were on display for over 120 years until the Museum started running out of space to display, care for and store them. In 1881 the British Museum (Natural History) – now the @Natural_History_Museum – opened in South Kensington.
