“We’ve been crying out for years and years begging folks to say OUR names. We have been standing up for each other and everyone else while having to defend our basic humanity. We whisper our stories to ourselves because no one will hear us. We soothe each other with lullabies taken from the poetry of the ones who came before us who also wrote to soothe each other because everything old is new again. I’m tired.
I pray this baby gets justice but I’m not even sure what justice looks like.
I’m praying for all of my sisters across America and the world who have heightened anxiety bc of the constant reminder that our bodies are not safe.
And I’m ever renewed in my commitment to the healing, wholeness and livelihood of Black women and girls.”
