In David Levine’s Some of the People, All of the Time, viewers are made acutely aware of the role of the observer. The performer recounts their own experience as the silent observer, the only blind spot behind a camera moving through Grand Central Station, and as the observed, photographed knowingly and unknowingly at rallies or along avenues. All this is heightened in the gallery by images that turn the street into a stage, framed through the eyes of a similarly hidden photographer. #someofthepeople ⠀
