This flag was carried aboard the Apollo 11 flight by astronaut Michael Collins. On July 20, 1969, Collins orbited the Moon in the Apollo 11 command module while Neil Armstrong and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin became the first human beings to walk on the Moon.
When Collins became the director of our @airandspacemuseum, he loaned this flag for display, and later donated it to the permanent collection. #FlagDay
