It is believed that this temple has been functioning uninterruptedly ever since its inception in the 7th century AD, making it one of the oldest functioning temples in India. The temple is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It remains in exceptionally good condition amidst the ruins that surround it.
