Weary days and angel dogs.
I'm a thousand+ miles from the sort of friends who'll sit with me in stillness—nudging when I need it and never judging when I don't.
Some people are friend collectors. They scoop and gather, everywhere they go. They knock a few from their list occasionally, but mostly that list just gets longer and longer, and they wrap it around themselves for warmth.
I've got a dash of that in me, in that I'll meet someone at the door who's buying an item off Craigslist, and an hour later our eyes will be knee-deep in tears, our throats will be hoarse from sharing life stories, and we'll feel the deep soul satisfaction of kinship that bursts forth from the collision of two empathic hearts.
But then I go back to my solitary days, and they go back to theirs.
And I'm left wondering: Maybe it's time I started a collection.
