King penguins emerge from the sea at sunrise at St Andrews Bay South Georgia. After spending time at sea hunting lanternfish and squid they return to their colony to locate and feed their hungry chick. King penguins form huge breeding colonies such as the one at St Andrews Bay numbering over 100,000 of these magnificent birds. South Georgia in the polar Southern Ocean is surrounded by rich seas that support the great pulses of life in these enormous penguin colonies.
