Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - This week I have been working on a slightly different project to normal in the Quantum Optics and Spectroscopy Research Group at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, which is famous for being one of the first research groups to teleport an atom. Photographing the laboratories there has been a lot of fun for me as the machines are full of intricate features like you would find in a cave, coupled with no natural light, I very much felt at home. The scientists working in the labs kept referring to the ‘traps’ on the machines, which is the chamber that holds the atom, but the whole lab was a trap to me, as I had to be careful not to knock anything or pull out any wires on these high precision instruments.
