Both at home and at work, I’m lucky to be surrounded by incredible women, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The #IWD2018 promise I’m committing to is to celebrate women’s achievements – and we should be celebrating every day. First up, Ruth Rogers and the late Rose Gray at the River Cafe, two remarkable souls who taught me to always try harder and expect more; and the late Pat Llewellyn, the most brilliant producer and a huge creative force in TV world. The late Marguerite Patten, who contributed so much in the Ministry of Food centres during WW2; Delia Smith, who, in the 1970s, did everything she could to inspire people to give cooking a go while convenience ruled the way; as well as the wonders that are Elizabeth David, Alice Waters, Stephanie Alexander and Marcella Hazan. On a personal note, my amazing mum, of course, and the women in my family, from my dear late Nan – love you Tiger – to Jools, who is a constant inspiration. Today is also about looking forward to the next generation. When I think about my daughters Poppy, Daisy and little Petal, I can only begin to imagine the amazing opportunities they face IF we continue to #PressForProgress. It’s a powerful reminder that we are responsible for building and shaping a world in which our girls can thrive and reach their full potential as women. I, for one, am excited about what their future might hold. What can we do together to help #PressForProgress ?? #internationalwomensday
