Aujourd’hui s’ouvre en Iran l’exposition « Le musée du Louvre à Téhéran – Trésors des collections nationales françaises ». Réunissant plus de 50 oeuvres issues des différents départements du Louvre et du musée Delacroix, l’exposition présentée au musée national d’Iran à Téhéran illustre la richesse des oeuvres de civilisations et d’époques différentes. Cela constitue un événement culturel et diplomatique de premier plan pour la France et l’Iran.

Exposé à Téhéran, cet ange élégant et concentré grave la mémoire de l'éphémère roi Valois François II. C'était un des trois génies funéraires destinés à orner le monument du cœur du roi, prévu dans la cathédrale d'Orléans. Le projet initial ne fut pas réalisé et l'oeuvre demeura isolée.

On display in Tehran, this elegant angel, intent on his work, engraves the memory of the short-lived Valois king Francis II on a tablet. He was one of the three funerary spirits destined to decorate the monument containing the king's heart in Orléans Cathedral. The initial project was never realized, and the work remained on its own.
