Last week, approximately 30,000 litres (8000 gallons) of fuel spilled into the Strait of Georgia, located off the coast of British Columbia by HMCS Calgary. The HCMS Calgary, a vessel of The Canadian Royal Navy, was conducting a fuel transfer when fuel was dumped into the #SalishSea. With the herring season rapidly approaching, this spill is just another one of the many major threats the Salish Sea is currently facing. I not only call the Salish Sea home, but it is also one of the most abundantly diverse ecosystems on the planet.
