I am OUTRAGED!! I found out today @Instagram has blocked posting images of psoriasis. By censoring the hashtag #psoriasis and many hashtags with the word #psoriasis in them! We are being blocked because of the offensive look of our disease! I feel like I’m that little girl getting kicked out of public pools because parents thought I was ugly and contagious. Isn’t @Instagram a place where we can be ourselves and connect to others? How can I spread the word #psoriasis and now be silenced at the same time? This disease has no filter, and we can not block it... I do not support anyone shaming our courage and I ask everyone to please sign this petition! I know this is an ugly disease to look at, but the most beautiful people I’ve met have this disease.
Help reinstate our #psoriasis hashtag.
We have to turn this around. We hashtag #psoriasis so we know we are not alone in our autoimmune disease. It is my pleasure to educate others about my disease so no little girl or boy feels the need to isolate, or told they can’t conquer their dreams. I have exposed myself as I am, in the pictures above, to make a difference in this life. I feel today was a big step backwards in my and everyone’s bravery.
