Today I officially started shopping for Christmas. I have learnt to love Christmas and all the baking, cooking and eating that comes with it here in #Italy. The tree should be decorated on December 8th, the fish for the Christmas Eve should be ordered to the fish monger days earlier, and the fresh #pasta for the Christmas day should be made in advance too. A slow cooked, rich sauce usually goes with the pasta in the south. In the north people prefer tortellini in broth.
Nothing can awaken the Italian inside you like kneading, rolling and cutting fresh pasta. Just like bread baked at home has a magnificence to it that’s unreachable any other way, fresh homemade pasta too has a way of warming up your heart, more than just filling up your belly. Few labors in the world are as self-gratifying as a bowl of pasta you’ve made with your own hands. At each mouthful, you can picture someone’s “nonna” bringing together a gorgeous feast for her family on any given Sunday. That image is evoked anytime a person tries to make pasta from scratch. Be it simply at a cooking class, or for a small gathering, creating new traditions and sharing some handmade love, the Italian way. #WHPlikealocal #🍝
