XVI The Tower #Halloween- the opportunity to celebrate the misunderstood and champion all that lies left of the dial. And what is more misjudged than the #Tarot- let alone the ‘scariest’ cards amongst the deck. Pronounced to be the bogus divinatory apparatuses of ‘hocus pocus’ cheats and charlatans- the cards have had a bad reputation for centuries. But rather than a tool to see the future, the cards can be the perfect aid to take a ritualistic moment and a deep look at ourselves. A rare occasion for many of us in our modern age. If you believe as we do- that nothing good comes from comfort- then even the bad events in our lives turn out to be the times that we grow, adapt and progress the most in our lives. Even the most threatening cards, the ones filled with bones and bodies, fire and brimstone. And this is no more prevalent in a card like #TheTower. Number XVI in the #MajorArcana- the sight of the burning tower; the flash of lightning and figures plunging to the ground is certainly a terrifying one. Surely it would allude to a story of destruction, death and danger. For many years- it was conceived that this card told the tale of the #TowerofBabel- where God destroyed a tower that was built by humans in order to reach heaven. Yes, it is believed that The Tower reflects a sudden change and possible decimation to one or more areas of your life- but this will be the breakthrough you need to move on and do something new with your life. You will never grow as a person if the routines and structures you have built in your life can’t handle a few overturns, as these are the moments you learn the most about yourself. Maybe these structures don’t have solid foundations- like the one pictured above. But see it as a way of being brought back to earth, and a lesson in not clinging to material possessions. It’s the wake up call many of us need in our modern lives, so there is no point in fighting it.
