Not surprising we like a bit of the Skull and Crossbones at Underground. The motiff has been around for at least 800 years and been used by armies, pirates and on graveyard entrances before it was also adopted as a warning sign on dangerous substances. The "keep out" or "danger her we come" message given out by the symbol made it an obvious choice of symbol used by bikers and later by some punks. The kids have always loved it given the association with the romanticised image of pirates and you have to give them that concession. But the unfortunate reappropriation of the symbol by mainstream and its application to everything and anything sold for cheap was a sad occurence in the early 2000's. What those products did lack was authenticity and attitude. So here is a small step to grabbing that back . In the spirit of pirates we aint asking for it back, we are taking it.
