I'm not doing so great and I'm still at the hospital. As some of you know, I was admitted to the ER on Monday because I was vomiting some blood. Tests at that time didn't show anything particularly wrong and I was discharged with some tummy meds. Things turned more serious yesterday morning when I suddenly had a lot of bloody diarrhea. I was rushed back to the ER where they ran a series of tests. This included another set of bloodwork, a clotting test, urinalysis, ultrasound and a whole bunch of other stuff I can't remember right now. Ultrasound shows that I have fluid, inflammation and ulceration in my stomach and intestines and that my intestines aren't contracting normally to move things along. There are a few elevations in my bloodwork that are also concerning. Based on my clinical signs and test results, the doctor believes I have hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE). HGE is a very serious condition characterized by a rapid onset of vomiting and hemorrhagic (bloody) diarrhea. The exact cause of HGE is unknown and if left untreated, can be fatal. The good thing is that we caught this relatively early. The docs here are giving me intravenous fluids, antibiotics, pain meds and lots of other good stuff. Oh, did I mention that the nurses are cute too? Thank you to all those who sent well wishes and prayers and so generously donated to my Go Fund Me page. My plan is to get better. I've had a few bumps along the way since my liver surgery in early September but I'm a fighter. I am going to beat this. Thanks again for everyone's support. __________________
