I scream, you scream, we all scream for screaming hairy armadillo pups, born Aug. 11 at @スミソニアン国立動物園.
What’s up with the name? It’s from the squealing noise they make if threatened and how much hair they have, compared to other armadillo species.
The pups are the first ever born at the Zoo, and they’re still spending all of their time in their nest. (It’s too soon to determine if they’re male or female.) Visitors will be able to see them after they get bigger and acclimate to their enclosure—follow @スミソニアン国立動物園 for pupdates.
