In 1923, the Société Anonyme, started by founding collector Katherine S. Dreier with #Duchamp and #ManRay, organized #Kandinsky’s first solo show in New York—also his first in the United States—and he became the group’s vice president in absentia, the cornerstone of a friendship with Dreier that would last until his death. Like Kandinsky, for Dreier abstract was an expression of inner spiritual meaning.
