Last weekend I visited Manzanar, where over 110,000 Japanese Americans were incarcerated during WW2. From the years of 1942 to 1945, these U.S. citizens were forcibly removed and thrown into internment camps. Their Constitutional rights were violated out of public fear, paranoia, and discrimination. This part of U.S. history is often times overlooked and forgotten, if not for the survivors who have courageously spoken up (and continue to) about their experiences. 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of Executive Order 9066. Let us know our history and remember it, so that we can prevent ourselves from repeating our past mistakes. Never Again, To Anyone, Anywhere!
