Highlights included hiking #kumanokodo, the Shinto pilgrimage path that people have taken for more than a thousand years, #Isejingu or #Isegrandshrine, a complex that includes the shrine where the sun goddess #Amaterasu is believed to dwell, #Meotoiwa, or shrine called the “married couple rocks,” and #Tsumekirifudoson, a temple where Kūkai, the founder of the Shingon school of Buddhism left his mark.
