However, because of the research that local biologists were already conducting in southern New Mexico, we lucked out. We were able to film a beautiful female Mountain Lion providing for her two 14-month old cubs. And because Mountain Lions are a keystone species, every other opportunist benefited from this mother making a kill. You can see that in lion country the coyotes and birds of prey will swoop in gladly clean up the scraps.
