Participating in sports was one way in which Irish immigrants found opportunities to support themselves during a time of hardship and discrimination. ?? The belt combines American and Irish symbols. Look closely and you'll find two bare-knuckled fighters. But you'll also find Irish national symbols of harps and clovers. At center, an American flag is featured above the words "United America." ?
