Image by @markosian | Ivan, 82, was born in Redkovka, Ukraine and spent most of his life working as a postman in his village. Today, he spends his days sitting on his front porch, thinking about life before Chernobyl. His village bears little resemblance to the place it was 30 years ago. Its stores, its school and its factory, are gone as a result of the 1986 nuclear accident at Chernobyl. Most of Redkovka’s residents, about 1,000 people, also resettled after the disaster. But the five families there today, including Ivan, refused. To them, Redkovka is home. #ukraine #chernobyl @Magnum Photos
