Lately I've been thinking about how much one can fight and resist accepting and loving one's self. And that even when efforts are made to do so there is an urge to justify it so as not to be seen as selfish for investing in one's own heart. That is sad to me. And yet in order to break past walls and barriers to truly love others there is a need to learn to break the walls and barriers we have against ourselves. Today is the Lunar New Year and I decided to invest in a few items that have meaning for me and bring joy. Not because I need them or can justify them with practicality. But because I simply like them and I want to honor my journey ahead in that spirit. •
I finally ordered Milk and Honey by @rupikaur_ which I have wanted since it's release. But I purposely waited. I knew it would uproot places in my heart and I didn't want to go there at the time. I was still germinating. Now I'm ready. To go in, to acknowledge, to feel, honor, let go, to be reborn. My shell no longer fits me. It's time to let these roots become wings. •
In light of that, I also invested in the bone leather @thisisground Mod Tablet 3 (on a fantastic sale at Restoration Hardware fyi) to be the keeper of my more personal and vulnerable mementos and expressions. My other Mod is for work and lives in my tote when I'm not sharing it here. This one is for my heart. To personalize it as I please and to be free in that. Some collect amazing shoes, gadgets, grail pens or antiques and for me more than anything I collect unique bags and organizers that I can store my treasures in. I have been like this since the day I got my first purse and starting today I'm going to celebrate that part of who I am. So here's to newness. To celebration. To breaking barriers. To stop judging. To be kind. With others. And with yourself. I sincerely wish you all a year of prosperity, blessing and freeness ahead.
