In the mid-19th century, Mary Ann Bishop appliquéd this "Wreath of Roses" quilt. It reminds us of holiday wreaths.
Born Mary Ann Gotschall in 1819, she married Hiram H. Bishop in 1842. During the Civil War, Hiram was contracted as an Acting Assistant Surgeon at the Totten General Hospital, in Louisville, Kentucky.
