"Puppets and Muppets" is on display through January 8, 2017.
Included in the display are an Italian Prince and Princess marionette from 1900, an elf marionette used at the 1963 World’s Fair, Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit from "Captain Kangaroo," the first Kermit Jim Henson created for the television program "Sam & Friends," and two popular Muppets, Elmo and Cookie Monster.

Why can't they stay on display permanently? Puppets are textiles and are very sensitive to light. To preserve them for years to come, we work with our Preservation Services experts to manage their time on and off view.
