At the Omotesando store we carry photo books selected by "POST", which is a book shop in Ebisu.
Among the selections, today we would like to introduce "La Maison" by the photographer Koto Bolofo.
Bolofo was born on 1959 at South Africa, and is a photographer based in the UK.
He has been doing fashion shoots for magazines such as VOGUE, Vanity Fair, and GQ, as well as making short films for International Film Festivals at Berlin and Venice. Moreover he is also known as shooting advertising campaigns of big maisons such as Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Dom Pérignon.
Bolofo was the first photographer to be permitted inside the Hermès factory. It took 7 years to complete this book including photos of the strictly confidential factory of Hermès.
You would be able to see the handcrafting of the craftsmen inside the factory as well as a Kelly Bag, a Perfume, and the inside photo of Bugatti Veyron. It records photos of Hermès from various viewpoints in a total of 11 booklets as 1 set.

表参道店では、恵比寿にあるブックショップPOSTがセレクトした写真集を販売しています。
本日は、その中から、フォトグラファー コト・ボロフォの「La Maison」をご紹介致します。
コト・ボロフォは1959年に南アフリカで生まれ、イギリスを拠点に活動している写真家です。
ヴォーグ、ヴァニティ・フェア、GQといったファッション誌の誌面作りにも携わるほか、ベルリンやヴェネツィアの国際映画祭でショートフィルムを制作し、また、エルメス、ルイ・ヴィトン、ドン・ペリニヨンといった錚々たるメゾンの広告キャンペーンを手掛けることでも知られています。
この書籍は、コト・ボロフォがエルメスの工房に入ることを許された初めての写真家として、７年の歳月をかけてエルメス極秘の工房を撮影したものです。
普段見ることができない工房や職人による手作業の姿、Kelly Bag、Perfume、Bugatti Veyronの内装の写真など、エルメスのあらゆる面が11冊のテーマに分けて収録されています。
