Coming soon: “Questlove Supreme,” a weekly radio show that will feature wide-ranging playlists and guests. @クエストラブ, of @theroots, will play the part of the expert curator, selecting songs and expounding on them at length in the casually professorial style that his fans have come to expect. The 3-hour Pandora Media program, which debuts on September 7, will show off its host’s eclectic tastes. @クエストラブ describes “Questlove Supreme” as an extension of the music courses he teaches at @nyuniversity, or as “the black nerd version of @npr.” For him, this is a chance to produce a radio show that will open listeners’ ears to more than just the most heavily promoted pop. “I want a world in which Drake’s ‘One Dance’ can also live with Frank Zappa’s ‘Uncle Meat’ can live with James Brown’s ‘Talkin’ Loud and Sayin’ Nothing,’ ” he said, “and all stops in between.” And for Pandora — the internet radio giant, which has clashed with the music industry in the past — the involvement of an authority like @クエストラブ is a key endorsement as the company tries to expand beyond radio.
