It’s our birthday!???For the 170th anniversary of our establishment, we’re throwing it back with this 1921 postcard of the Castle, the first Smithsonian building on the National Mall.

Though it’s now in our Smithsonian Institution Archives, the card was first mailed to a Miss Benmet Harman in Virginia from Mildred, who wrote: “Washington DC. Surely did have a good time over there--but decided not to go to Normal, Sam & I came on to Washington Sun evening instead-- Am having a good trip. Will look for you over soon. Remember me to all the folk. Mildred.”
