At 2:05 a.m. CEST Tuesday, Bertrand Piccard and André Borschberg became the first pilots to fly around the world in a solar-powered airplane. "Very often when you speak about the protection of the environment it's boring and expensive, and we wanted to demonstrate that it's exactly the opposite,” Piccard told CNBC shortly after landing in Abu Dhabi.
Not a a single drop of fuel was used as the @SolarImpulse 2 traveled 25,000 miles. The plane made 16 stops, including in India, China, the U.S., Italy, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates -- where it first took off.

Through this achievement, Piccard told CNBC they are also trying “to teach people to be pioneers.” “We’ve been leading the way just by disruptive thinking - just by trying to achieve the impossible… We need to get out of our comfort zone. Be free.” #solarpower #solarpoweredplane #environment #AbuDhabi #solarimpulse2 #india #china #US #Italy #Egype #energy #sun #futureisclean #si2
