Archie!! Archie is a New Guinea Singing dog (NGSD). We have offered to rescue Archie and bring him to the JAB Canid Education and Conservation Center to be an Ambassador animal for his breed. Archie is 10 and his owners are not able to continue to take care of him. Primitive breeds are very difficult to adopt and are typically euthanized in shelters.
Part of our work at the center is to rescue these amazing primitive breeds, like Archie. The Singers are semi-domesticated and are a key to understanding domestication. We will use these primitive breeds to increase our knowledge and understanding of the breed and domestication of dogs. In addition, our therapy programs will use them in a whole new and novel way to help heal humans!! We hope Archie will join our home and we can give him the love of not only us, but of so many other caring animal lovers!
