Boris, oh Boris... Dave taught him to sit pretty, spin, and high five - when he gets frustrated and really wants the treat- he will do everything... Foxes, even the Russian domesticated foxes, are not dogs- they can be easier to train, as they are very smart, but they are also very reward focused- and pleasing mommy and daddy isn't a huge motivator! With the right socialization at the right development stage, it is hard to know how this would impact their training ability- we look forward to exploring this with the Russians, in the hopes to train them in utility work. We did not receive Boris and Sophie until they were 6 months of age, and while they are quick to learn new commands, it is a command, a treat/1:1 - a variable reinforcement schedule doesn't seem to be effective at this point... But we are hopeful as our center develops and we are able to obtain Ambassador Russians at younger ages, we can explore this further!!
