Photo by @renan_ozturk @camp4collective // Words by @m_synnott // Part of #TheLastHoneyHunter story. ~ At the top of the cliff, Maule and Asdhan bundle up some dried grass and light it on fire, creating mini mobile smokers they carry with them as they climb down the bamboo ladder which dangles in space hundreds of feet above the valley floor. This hive, which may be the last one the Kulunge will ever harvest, hangs in a place their ladder can’t reach, so the honey hunters have no choice but to step off and completely abandon its security. I’ve witnessed some crazy things in my life, but watching Asdhan freesolo rock climb across the overhanging wall, barefoot, carrying his honey hunting tools in one hand and a bundle of burning grass in the other -- all while being attacked by bees – is something I probably wouldn’t believe if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. #shotbydrone ~
