Photograph taken by @christianziegler This is a portrait of a dominant male Red-capped Manakin. During the breeding season, these birds perform amazingly complex dances to impress females. This male is at least 5 or 6 years old - they need to learn a lot before they occupy and defend a lek (this is the dance floor where they display for females). During the first few years, the male manakin looks like a female and spends hours each day practicing his moves.
