Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - Receiving the 'breath of life', Queen Qalhata's tomb, at El Kurru in Sudan. This tomb is rarely visited and the frescoes on the wall are in much better condition than inside the Kings tomb next door. In the Queen's chamber we see her being given the breath of life by the god – she lies on an angreb, an inverted arc-shaped charpoy set atop four short legs which to this day is used to carry the deceased to the cemetery for burial. The site lies close to the Nile river and there are fears for the precious frescoes inside both tombs. You can clearly see evidence of flood damage in the past.
