Martin: “Are you from LA?”
Antoine: “Actually originally from Dallas.”
M: "Are you living on the streets these days?"
A: "Yes, sir."
M: "Where were you before?”
A: "Originally back out there in Dallas and then I had family issues out here and then came out here, got stuck out here and then ever since then I just been out here, taking care of my sick grandmother, recently lost my grandfather. So this has been ups and downs, ups and downs.”
M: "So sometimes you move in with your grandma?”
A: "No just like in-home care. I’ll go visit her, take care of her from certain like… say nine to five, whatever. And then somebody else will stay overnight. It gives me time to be with her and hang out and stuff like that.”
M: "Sleeping on the street and taking care of your grandma in the daytime?”
A: "Yeah, it was rough but I make it happen.”
M: "How is your grandma doing now?”
A: "She’s still slowly recovering. She had about three strokes and she has leukemia. It’s rough.”
M: "Do you have any other family you can stay with or are they all back in Dallas?”
A: "Yes and no. Like my family is not actually family. I call them associates. So this is like when you really need ‘em, they’re not there.” .
