The Cave spider is so different from other spiders that scientists created a whole new family and genus to contain it! Cavers found the first Trogloraptor marchingtoni in the dark zone of a cave in the coastal forests of Oregon, hanging from the roof by a few strands of silk. One feature that sets it apart: unmatched toothed claws at the end of each leg that are likely used for capturing prey.
