Photograph by @Thomas Peschak A new open source low cost underwater drone @openrov_hq is test flown by its creator @davidtlang. I shot this split level image in the incredibly rich waters of the Solomon Islands in the western Pacific Ocean. I was onboard the @ナショナルジオグラフィック @lindbladexp vessel Orion for @mission_blue II and @TED Talks, a voyage that brought together more than 100 scientists, conservationists, artists and innovators to present, discuss and workshop solutions to mitigate the greatest threats to our oceans. Getting more people to connect with the underwater world is critical and a new generation of low cost underwater drones might be our best weapon yet to engage people in conservation. The more eyes we have in the oceans, the more people will understand and care. @Thomas Peschak
